SimpleCoords   Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
SimpleCoords creates a movable window that displays the player's location as coordinates.
Many hint and help web sites (Thottbot, WoWHead, etc.) use these coordinates to help players find objects or characters in the game.

SimpleCoords also allows you to enter coordinates and display them on the minimap.
Version 1.2 and beyond also puts a dot on your main map.

To Use:
· Quit the World of Warcraft application.
· Unpack the .zip file into your /World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons directory like any other addon.
· Restart World of Warcraft.

A new window with your current location will appear.
Hold down the SHIFT key and drag the window to your preferred location.

To find a location:
Clicking the location (without the SHIFT key) will open a panel where you can enter the coordinates you are looking for.
Press RETURN to put this location on your minimap and your zone map.
If the location is outside of the mimimap boundaries, it will display an arrow pointing in the direction of entered location.

SimpleCoords uses the amazing Astrolabe Library by James Carrothers. (Included in the package)

Thanks for making this addon. This made my leveling so much easier. I will never remove this addon. Thanks again.

Sorry for the delay in getting my addons updated. I've been away from the game for a few months. The "Simple" series addons are all updated for 3.1 now.

Expect new versions with new features this summer.

No more Lua errors and it works like a charm.

Perhaps the author can verify that this works fine for everybody and doesn't break their system.
Try it on your own risk. I can't help if it doesn't work for you.

Worked for me! Thanks Zab!!

I fixed it, hopefully not breaking other stuff. I'm not a programer!

I have found a post sayig that other mapping software is also having problems because of a library called "Astrolabe" which breaks with 3.1.

Here is what I did:

Download "gatherer" 3.13 (latest). look for Astrolabe directory. Copied Astrolabe directory to SimpleCoords directory, replacing its older version of Astrolabe.
No more Lua errors and it works like a charm.

It also spam causes the error resulting in 'a large number of errors' pop-up asking if you want to disable AddOns.

In any case, I very much enjoy using this AddOn and would like to see it continue to be updated as WoW is itself. Hopefully this helps towards a future build for 3.1.
Ooops. Meant that I'm having this issue live since the patch, not in PTR. I've had to disable SimpleCoords, and I miss it.

Since it would be nearly impossible to accurately calculate the time between point a and point b, given the number of path curves and impassable terrain obatacles, and other variables (e.g. your character and now your mount, as of the 3.1 patch, slow down when moving through water (although my druid in aquatic form, with the addition of glyphed embelishment, moves pretty quickly through water...), such an enhancement is highly unlikely to be created.

Re: Re: Simple Coords on PTR

this allows you to enter coordinates and display them on the minimap (in a second by a click, no need to open some map and create a note and bla bla). All players need this, because Quest helper comments say always go to "xx yy", cant belive isnt updated or isnt another addon like this, instead we have lots of other stupid and hard to understand addons sry to say

lol I didn't want to register just to make this post, so I guessed at a login and password and it worked...

Anyways, I love this addon, only thing I'd like to see is once you put in your coords and the arrow pops on the mini map a "Time to that spot would be great kinda like how questhelper shows how long to get to the spot...

Re: Simplecoords

Hi, can you please save the location of the frame so I don't have to move it every time I load the addon? I don't always need coordinates (eg when I pvp, raid) and It's a pain to move the frame every time I load it. I'm not sure why you would have the default location be in the exact center of the screen. At the very least, have it load at the right side of the screen. Even better yet, put it in a useful place, like by the minimap. Yes I know Blizzards FrameXML code sucks, but It wouldnt be very hard for you to do this, just a few lines of code.

Latest version allows you to "close" the panel and hide the targets.

It's possible I pushed the 3.0 version out too early and you grabbed that one.
Once you get the patch in place today it should be fine.

I also posted a new version today (1.5) that incorporates the latest revision of Astrolabe. Looks like tweaks for the new Eastern Plaguelands zone.
